Education in Northern Cyprus

Education is one of the fastest growing sectors in Northern Cyprus.

Under the state education system, free education is provided in state schools and colleges. The language of learning is Turkish.

Private schools and colleges typically charge between $1,500 and $2,500 per academic year, depending on the age of the student and the school. Although considered private institutions, they are supervised and approved by the local Ministry of Education. Private schools are also required to follow the rules regarding basic curriculum, assessment, disciplinary issues and educational standards within the scope of the state education system.

In addition, the increasing popularity of summer English courses and summer schools in Northern Cyprus attracts a lot of attention from foreign language speaking students from European countries. It also attracts many children who enjoy a healthy and peaceful holiday by the sea.
